How this course works
This series meets the requirements of the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS) for the Intermediate Phase. In Grade 6, we have two core components: a Teacher’s Guide and a Learner’s Book.
The Learner’s Book
The Learner’s Book component has two sections of colour (32 pages each), to help illustrate specific Mathematics content. We have carefully selected these pages because we believe that they will enhance the learners’ understanding of concepts, where a visual understanding would most benefit learning. The book covers all content and core concepts, and facilitates skills development. It includes activities for learners to develop, practise and consolidate their knowledge and skills. Teachers receive guidance on how to teach important concepts in the Teacher’s Guide. Written texts are supported by illustrations that help to explain content. All examples, activities and illustrations are representative of all cultural groups. Activities steadily become more challenging, within the activity itself and across the unit, so that learners progressively develop their skills and understanding of concepts.
The Teacher’s Guide
The Teacher’s Guide provides you, the teacher, with all the planning, teaching and assessment tools required.
