ith provinces across Canada experiencing multiple waves of the coronavirus,people need to do all they can to help combat the spread of COVID-19.While vaccines have become available, recent delays show
either coming into contact with these droplets or from a
contaminated surface.While measures such as social distancing and mask wearing can help prevent the former, frequent cleaning is need- ed to help prevent the latter. The coronavirus is more likely to be found on surfaces you would
frequently touch with your
hands.As it is unsure exactly how long it can survive on different surfaces, although experts believe it can range from a few hours to days depending on the surface, frequent cleaning is imperative. In your home,Health Canada recommends you frequently clean and
disinfect surfaces such as tables, toilets, countertops, light switches, laundry hampers, television remotes, phones and electronics and han- dles to things such as doors, refrigerator, dishwasher, cabinets and faucets.
“Cleaning with soap (or detergent) and water lowers the number of germs on
surfaces.Cleaners do not necessarily kill germs, but cleaning can remove germs and lower their
numbers.This can play a role in reducing the risk of spreading infection,”said Maryse Durette, senior
