Senior hires at Haines Watts

Accountant Haines Watts has made two new senior appointments at its new base at Calthorpe Estates’ Edgbaston Village. They are Lee Meredith as

associate partner, and Sarah Hughes as head of VAT. Haines Watts has increased the size of its workforce by ten per cent during the past year, since it moved to Edgbaston. Mr Meredith, who joined

from Baldwins having previously been with KPMG, will be handling a client portfolio of 200 owner- managed businesses. He said: “My real passion is

helping owner-managed and growing businesses to reach their full potential and we have a raft of really exciting companies in construction, manufacturing and retail in the West Midlands. “It’s my role to make sure

our specialists get under the skin of the firms we are working with, delivering confidence in the advice we give so their management teams can focus on what they do best.” Darren Holdway, group chairman at Haines Watts, said: “The move to merge our two Birmingham offices into one prestigious site in Edgbaston 12 months ago has been a great success for the business. “A 16 per cent rise in

revenue prior to the pandemic proves that the level of advice and support we try to deliver is working and we have had numerous significant wins from prospective clients who have outgrown their current advisers or are not getting the attention they deserve and require specialist tax, VAT, audit or advisory guidance. “Growing our team, which

includes four new appointments in the last three months, has made us more agile and able to adapt to the business owner’s needs, enabling them to provide relevant commercial advice all under one roof.”

Jerroms and Harben Barker in merger deal

Accountancy firm Jerroms has joined forces with rival Harben Barker. Both have offices in Solihull, which will now merge at the former’s base at Blythe Valley Park. Jerrom has a further office, at Bromsgrove, and

Harben has one at Coleshill. Together, the three offices will employ more than 120 staff. Former Harben Barker directors David Minett, Jane

Barnett and Paul Stanford will be remaining with the business as consultants. Mr Minett and Mr Stanford will be primarily based

at Blythe Valley Park, and Ms Barnett at Coleshill. The merger follows significant growth by Jerroms

group year, with the introduction of additional service lines, including corporate finance, wealth management, investment planning and raising finance.

Jerroms director Lucas Markou said: “This move

forms part of a wider strategic business decision for us to further expand our reach across the Midlands, gaining an additional office in Coleshill to run alongside our existing Solihull and Bromsgrove locations.” David Minett said: “Joining Jerroms is a natural fit

for us as they are an extension of our existing service offering, with additional opportunities for our clients to benefit from the full array of financial services available from the wider Jerroms group. “We are pleased to be making this move at a time

when we want to provide our clients with the highest level of support. As both businesses share the same core values and commitment to client service, we are very much looking forward to joining the Jerroms family and working with them towards the future success of the business.”
