Long-serving partner announces his retirement

After 20 years in Cooper Parry’s tax team, Philip Rogers (pictured), one of the accountancy firm’s long serving partners, is retiring. When Mr Rogers joined Cooper Parry – which

has an office in Solihull - from PwC in 2000, the firm was rooted in the Midlands, and its tax team was delivering £1m of fees each year. Now, as he bows out, the firm has

expanded into London and other parts of the UK, and as a result the tax team is now delivering £1m of fees each month. It is Mr Rogers who has been

credited with much of the drive behind Cooper Parry’s transition from mostly compliance led work to the specialist consultancy teams the firm has now. And, according to the firm, by winning scores

of new clients and working tirelessly to help those around him develop, he also surpassed a personal goal of his, namely being part of a tax

team that delivered £10m of annual revenues for the first time. Simon Baines, head of tax at Cooper Parry,

said: “Philip was a huge part of the journey from ‘sleepy tax’ to where we are now, and in truth, none of us would be here without him. Everyone loved him – not just in the team but across our client base too – and he’ll be sorely missed. “I know the team will join me in wishing Philip all the best, and I know I couldn’t ask for a group better suited to take his legacy

forward.” Mr Rogers will obviously miss his

job – he has gone on record as saying: “I

love tax – sad though it may sound.” But at least he will be able to find the time to

achieve his top bucket list aim, which is to go wild camping and walking in the Dolomites by himself, for a month.

Crowdfunding campaign set up for Arrive Alive

A crowdfunding campaign has been set up by Solihull Chamber of Commerce charity of the year, Arrive Alive, in order to raise cash to buy a new emergency vehicle. The charity is aiming to raise £25,000 to pay

for an emergency responder vehicle, one of several vehicles that attends medical emergencies. Arrive Alive is the only charity of its kind in England solely dedicated to funding vital lifesaving vehicles and equipment for Community First Responder groups (CFRs), who attend 999 medical emergencies. Debbie Roscoe, from Arrive Alive, said: “A

CrowdfunderUK page has been launched to help fund for an additional lifesaving vehicle. “Any support great or small can make a

tremendous difference to saving someone’s life in your local community.”
