Greatest network: Outgoing president Mark Hipwell
Crime fighter is new president
A specialist in tackling financial crime is the new president of Future Faces, the young professionals’ arm of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. Jaccy Datta, a compliance consultant in
Santander UK’s Anti-Financial Crime department, succeeds Mark Hipwell who has served in the role for the past two years. After graduating from Bangor University in
Spanish and Linguistics, Jaccy worked as an investigation specialist at Amazon’s London-based headquarters, helping to prevent and identify cases of fraud on the
Amazon.es marketplace.
‘I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to continue Mark’s outstanding work for this coming year’
In 2016, she relocated to Birmingham to work
as a financial crime and intelligence investigator for Deutsche Bank and was later promoted to the role of specialist advisor in the bank’s Business Advisory team. In her current role at Santander UK, Jaccy
works to deter, detect and disrupt all forms of financial crime in the banking sector, while protecting the bank and its customers. A long-time Future Faces member, she won the
Future Faces Ambassador role in 2018 for her dedication and passion for the organisation and also served as vice-president. Jaccy said: “I’m truly honoured to have the
opportunity to continue Mark’s outstanding work for this coming year and am really excited to work with the new committee as Future Faces’ president.
“I’m really passionate about Future Faces – it
has helped me develop so much over the past four years, both professionally and personally, whilst providing some incredible experiences and friendships along the way. “With the current pandemic, life is very
different now to before, and it’s become more important than ever to stay connected. “My main focus is to ensure Future Faces
members can continue to meet, socialise and network regularly, albeit remotely, and to continue to have varied opportunities to develop as individuals. “I also endeavour to ensure the support and
tools are in place to help members to develop and maintain a positive mindset whilst we go through
this challenging time - which is certainly easier said than done - but an extremely important step to preserve our own mental health.” Jaccy was confirmed as president for 2021 at
Future Faces’ virtual annual general meeting. Mark Hipwell, a pre-construction manager for
HS2 contractor LMJV (Laing O’Rourke and Murphy Group Joint Venture), said: “Jaccy has done an incredible job as both my vice-president and as an ambassador for Future Faces over the last few years. “Her passion, not just for young professionals
but for young people with all her charity work and mentoring, makes her perfect for the role of president. “I have no doubt she will continue to build on
the success we've had, face the challenges of Covid and support the hard work that the team at Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce do. “I would also like to say what an honour it's
been to be president for the last two years. “Future Faces has been the finest network I've ever been involved in, supporting me through
tough times, allowing me to make so many friend and talk about bridges far too much! “But as President I've been able to see the work
that goes into supporting nearly 500 young professionals across the region. “None of this happens without our fantastic
members engaging with us, our executive committee giving up their time and effort, and Anna Assinder, the Future Faces manager, working tirelessly to make us the young professionals’ network for all across Greater Birmingham.”
