TRAINING WITH A COMPETITIVE EDGE
How often have you or your staff been sitting in a training course and the first question someone asks is, “when’s lunch?” Followed swiftly by, “can I get away at 4.30?” For Ian Wearne, Director of Chamber members Competitive Edge
Training & Consultancy, he believes that, fundamentally, training on its own doesn’t work! With over twenty years’ experience in the learning and development
industry, and a passion for seeing people flourish, his opinion is not one to be ignored. Official Value Added Partners of the Association of Professional Sales (APS), Competitive Edge recently celebrated its successful first year in business, and alongside business partner and co-founder Chris Battye, Ian embodies the company ethos that a businesses competitive edge is, without question, its people. SUPPORT FOR YOUR WORKFORCE
There is no getting away from coronavirus, and Nicky Buckley, independent HR consultant of East Midlands HR, has been providing support to SMEs with a choice of Covid-19 packages to suit each budget. Workforce Planning is a tool that
has been used successfully in many large organisations, highlighting the need to have employees with the right skills now and in the future to provide the level of service required. SMEs can apply the same
process, creating a pandemic survival plan.
Six key steps of a Workforce Planning Process: 1. Analysis of your company and the environment
2. Review of your current and potential workforce
3. Determine future workforce 4. Identify the gaps 5. Address the skills shortages 6. Monitor and evaluation of the process.
It forms the basis of Talent Management and succession planning, identifying those roles which are critical to your business, and the individuals that really make a difference to your organisational performance. It supports learning and
development, employee engagement and retention, while also identifying talent you need to recruit.
