HOSPICE HOLDS VIRTUAL TREE OF LIGHTS EVENT

Cransley Hospice Trust is holding its annual Tree of Lights event virtually for the first time this year. With local and national restrictions in place, the local charity wants to ensure that everyone, regardless of faith or age, can make a dedication in memory of a loved one and take part in the annual Tree of Lights event. Anyone that registers for the popular event will be

sent their own Tree of Lights Remembrance Pack and invited to share in the commemorative service which will be streamed from the Cransley Hospice Facebook page on 6 December. The service would normally take place on the St

Mary’s Hospital site in Kettering, where the hospice is based. People gather to light up a life, leave dedications and seek comfort from the service that brings the whole community together at this special,

yet sometimes difficult time of year. This year, while people are not physically able to

gather due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the ‘In Memory’ Tree of Lights service will be streamed online on the 6 December at 6.30pm, and everyone is invited to watch, take part and to ‘Light Up a Life’, in memory of a loved one by making a dedication and donation in advance of the service. Anyone who registers via the website before 27 November 2020, will be sent a Tree of Lights Remembrance Pack, which will include, among other things, a candle to light, a small tree and details of the service so that they can take part from the comfort of their own homes.

RECOGNITION FOR MARREN

In recent years Chamber members Marren have arguably been best known for their association with microwaves. However, with a new website launched in November and a raft of prestigious industry award wins under their belt, the Northamptonshire firm is claiming their rightful place as a force to be reckoned with in providing service, repairs, equipment and parts to the catering industry. The new website is designed to

be a go-to platform for customers to educate themselves, and with a growing library of online resources, Marren’s new online presence is an educational database in the making. Eighty per cent of the firm’s business comes from service and repair, and with the previous website focusing primarily on e- commerce, it was time for a change. The range of services Marren provides, as well as the equipment the firm uses is impressive, and has led to their industry recognising their achievements. In January 2020 Marren took

home the Mitchells & Butlers Contractor of the Year Award, followed in August 2020 by being crowned Best Commercial Catering Equipment Specialists 2020 and taking the title for Client Service Excellence Award – Northamptonshire. In November 2019 the team won the Service and Maintenance Provider of the Year award, the CESA Training & Development Award, and in June 2019 they were announced as the winners at the Foodservice Equipment Awards, being crowned the Service and Maintenance Specialist of the Year. As Marren have increased their

brand presence and knowledge of the work they undertake, this is surely only the start for this local firm with an enviable reputation for excellence.

Chamber members Office Angels have joined forces locally with Adecco, both of whom are owned by the same parent company, the Adecco Group. The local collaboration is the first of its kind in the UK and came about during the summer of 2020. Paul Masterson, of Office Angels, said: “There is no doubt that the next few months are going to be challenging for our clients as they continue to navigate a changing world and adapt their business models and procedures so that they are fit for purpose. We understand that businesses don’t have time to work with multiple agencies,

continually explaining the same requirements, sharing strategies and conveying your companies’ culture over and over. “We find ourselves in a market with more

candidates then we have seen in the last few years, but does this mean it’s easy to find the right person to join your team? In fact, it can be hardier. Seventy-nine per cent of our clients surveyed said they find the task more daunting than before, and are currently overwhelmed by the responses to adverts and posts.” Creating a one-stop shop for their clients, the

combined local force of Office Angels and Adecco mean that they’re able to introduce each

other to relevant clients – making their customers experience seamless and helping to support each brands’ specialties. Paul continued, “Office Angels and Adecco service different

sectors, but now we know that as a combined force, we can help more businesses in their search for the perfect candidate. We are passionate about people and service, and will add value to your world of work.” There’s no end in sight for this local trial; watch this space for the future!
