Faircracker SUMMER 2020 NEW NEWS FROM NICA
NICA, like everyone else, is putting one foot in front of the other and trying to maintain some normalcy.
-Scholarship applications have arrived and they are being prepared for the readers. We promised to award $30,500
and the NICA Foundation, thanks to some careful planning, will make the recipient announcements in late August. -Many of our entrepreneurial members have created and/or are participating in the Fair Food Drive-Thru movement.
NICA has partnered with Saffire, First Data-Clover and Carnival Easts to develop the #NICAFairFoodFinder website where folks can find fair food near them.
www.nicafairfoodfinder.com -The NICA Association Health Plan is on track to roll-out on September 1st. It is a Cigna plan offered by the Hummel
Group that is good anywhere in the country, for a couple or larger group, and that has no pre-existing restrictions.
bthompson@hummelgrp.com -Most fairs are developing plans for how to re-open their events. We are encouraging them to include their Communi-
cation Committees to participate in their planning meetings. (Yes we have a brochure with instructions for starting one).
nica@nicainc.org -We have over 1000 followers on Facebook, which represents over 80% of our members. -The Merchant Task Force will be bouncing from its successful IAFE convention presentation into a plan to create a
NICA platform for our commercial vendors to find training, networking, benefits and support. -Our East and West Regional Councils are strong and now we are forming the Central East Council under the leader-
ship of Dennis Larson. -Like our sister associations we continually update our members regarding pandemic stories and information. We are all asking the same question: What is the next chapter of this pandemic? “Together” We Will Learn the An- swers”….while standing 6 feet apart.
Enjoy the Summer! Rey O’Day, NICA Executive Director
