Faircracker SUMMER 2020

The 73rd Pasco County Fair “It’s An Adventure”

The 73rd Annual Pasco County Fair with a theme "It's An Adventure" was fortunate and blessed to get their fair open and completed before Covid-19 hit the fair industry in Florida. The fair hosted, for the first time, a "Carload Night Promotion" and it was a big

hit for 2020 and is already scheduled again for 2021. "Our Midway company, Big Rock Amusements, was very happy with the promotion and is looking forward to what 2021 has in store for Carload Night. It was our biggest Wednesday in many years," said Tracy J. Thompson, Annual Fair Chairman. The Entertainment lineup for 2020 was an Adventure across the fairgrounds with top-notch shows—Renata, The

Band, Jay Mattioli Electrify Magic and Illusions, Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean, The Moogician, Robinson's Racing Pigs, The Rubber Chicken Show, Fritzy Bros-One Man Circus, Purgatory Ironworks, All About Ag with Tom Umiker, Walking with Giants, The Banjo Man and Mega-morph Transforming Police Car,Wednesday Night with Bluegrass icons The Little Roy and Lizzy Show, Thursday night was Gospel night featuring The Award-winning Greater Vision and on Monday opening night a concert with Country Star Billy Dean with special guest Chloe Channel from American Idol. On Friday and Saturday evening the fair hosted a PRCA Sanctioned Rodeo in the Rodeo Arena. There was a frosty nip

in the air on Friday night, but the rodeo still pulled the crowd in. New to the food court for 2020 was Jim's Tacos, Henry Lee's Out of the Wild, and Sattler's Ice Tea, all three proved to be big hits for fairgoers. Jim Ward, Concessionaire man- ager stated, "The fried gator from Henry Lee's and the Huge Burrito from Jim’s Tacos, were the talk of the fair." The biggest improvement to the Pasco County Fairgrounds just before fair opening was the completion of all new elec-

tric service boxes, panels, and mini cams to the Food court area, as well as new wiring and electric service in our Com- mercial Building, Higgins Hall. Fair board Director Kevin Corrigan was responsible for overseeing the electrical upgrades and completed the task just in time for the opening of the 2020 fair. Kevin received "high fives" from all of the food con- cessionaires for the much-needed upgrades to the food court area. The 73rd Edition of the Pasco County Fair also premiered a new fair web site and new updated Fair logo. Clark Con-

verse, General Manager commented that "everyone loves the new web site and it's much easier to navigate. We are very pleased with the way Saffire listened to our ideas and created what we needed, They (Saffire) also updated our Fair Logo and gave us a fresh look to go along with the new web site." Converse also stated, "All the livestock shows throughout the week were successful and the 4-H & FFA Exhibitors did well on Sale Nights." We were happy to once again have Charley Belcher from Fox 13 come to visit and feature us on his morning show,

“Charley’s World.” In the photograph below he is filming in front of Spaghetti Eddie’s. The fair is also celebrating the recent election of Jim Ward, as President of the Florida Federation of Fairs and Live-

stock Shows for 20-21. The fair is currently planning for the Summer Work Shop to take place at the Fairgrounds in September. "We are very

happy and excited for Jim," said R J Huss, Presi- dent of the Pasco County Fair Association. "We wish him the very best as President of the Federa- tion." Tracy concluded that "we are already making

plans for the 2021 fair, and wish ALL fairs across Florida much success for the 2020 Fall Fairs and the 2021 Spring Fairs."
