New Events at Martin County Fair The Martin County Fair took place Feb 12-20, 2020. We

thought we had it bad from having 5 days of rain, all on the weekends and the Presidents Day Holiday. We feel very fortunate to have had our Fair this year, and are feel for those who didn’t and pray you have the financial backing to hang on until next year.

This year we brought in the Anastacini Tent Circus (Very

well received), The Pork Chop Revue (Good Show), (see story on page 60) and Belmont the Magician (Great Job). Our musical line up included a Sawyer Brown concert, a KISS Tribute concert, a JOURNEY Tribute concert, and musicians playing in the Beer Garden & a smaller stage on the main walkway.

Some new ways we helped our community partners were a ‘Canned Food Drive” during a weekday that got you in for half price, and a “Pet Food Drive” that also got you in for half price. We brought in a Curious George Char- acter (Contact us for the contact) that we tied into our “Read & Win” Program. We had over 200 kids read 10 books over the Holiday Break and we mailed each kid a free fair admission ticket and invited them to “Storytime with Curi- ous George” each night at 6pm. We had vol- unteers read Curious George Goes to the Fair Book.

Our Science Zone (Mad Scientist Lab) contin-

ues to be a hit. It features a dozen hands-on science activi- ties run by a volunteer High School Science teacher, and taught 400 people how to do Hands-Only CPR. Our local MakerSpace group continues to produce a BattleBots style Robot Battles program, where we had 50 teams from 3 states come in to participate, including “The Witch Doctors” from the TV Show.

We had billed this Fair as our “FAIR-Well Performance”

as we are preparing to move our fairgrounds. Unfortu- nately, moving at the speed of government is proving too much, so we will be at our current site one more Fair. Look for our New Treasure Coast AGRIPLEX coming in 2022!

Have a Fair Day! In the spring we

had a very suc- cessful Drive-Thru Green Market.

We also had

drive thru Fair Food.
