Hello Fair Friends! This has sure been a spring that we
will never forget. We started the year off with fair season underway and then by the middle of March everything had changed. Twelve fairs in Florida were closed or cancelled during this time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. At the same time, our Florida Federation of Fairs Board of Directors made the decision to cancel the Annual Meeting in St. Augustine. Looking back in the records, this was the first Federation Annual meeting to be can- celled since its inception. The Annual Meeting is a great event each year for everyone to be together as a fair family. Through this time of uncertainty, I can tell you that we are still together as a fair family. Talking with numerous members the last three months by phone has been uplifting to say the least. The resiliency of our industry is inspiring and on display throughout the country as fair folks work together through the many challenges that are before us. Our industry and our members will make it and we will contin- ue to be #fairstrong. In spite of the cancellation of the Annual Convention, we were
able to move forward with elections for the board of directors and elect a new slate of officers for 2020. Congratulations goes out to Jim Ward of the Pasco County Fair as he takes the reigns as President. Jim has served the Federation for many years on nu- merous committees and we know Jim will do a great job. We would also like to welcome Eddie Porcelli and Shelly Terrell to the Board of Directors and Michelle Faulk as an Honorary Director. A big thank you to Bill Olson of the Greater Jacksonville Agricul-
tural Fair for his service as our president for the past year. Bill is a great person to work with, and during his year as president he held us all together. Thank you Bill for your love and dedication to the Federation and the fair industry! At this time, plans for the fall fairs are underway. The Federa-
tion Summer/Fall Workshop is tentatively scheduled for Septem- ber 25th& 26th and will be held in Pasco County. The information for this event will be coming to you soon. Please stay safe and let us know if we can help you in any way.
