Wasps have appointed Stephen Vaughan as group chief executive, following the departure of Stuart Cain who has joined Warwickshire County Cricket Club. Mr Vaughan joined Wasps last year after
seven years at Gloucester Rugby and took on responsibility for the Ricoh Arena club’s sporting activities. He will now oversee all group activities including conferences, exhibitions and concerts, as well as sponsorship and commercial activities. A former professional footballer with Walsall,
Mr Vaughan went on to become an award- winning senior executive at Thomas Cook, managing the travel operator’s Club 18-30 business before leading its London 2012 Olympic Games involvement. He said: “Wasps Group is a very dynamic
business with exciting potential in all its areas of activity. I have really enjoyed my role on the sporting side of the group and believe we now have that in very good shape. “I am really motivated in helping to drive
forward the overall business and helping to realise the exciting plans we have been putting in place in recent months.” Mr Cain, meanwhile, is replacing Neil
Snowball as Warwickshire’s chief executive. He moves to Edgbaston after three years at
Wasps where he held a number of positions and helped establish Wasps rugby and netball teams at the Ricoh Arena after the move from London.

seven years with the NEC Group as managing director of commercial marketing and has also worked in football at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Glasgow Rangers. Mr Cain is expected to the Bears in August
following the departure of Snowball, who is to become the managing director of County Cricket with the England & Wales Cricket Board. He said: “Neil has really moved Warwickshire CCC forward and I’m relishing the opportunity
to build on his legacy. “The club has very proud traditions and its
men’s and women’s teams have achieved great success across all formats of the game. We need to continue this into the future. “In Edgbaston, we have one of the world’s
great sporting venues, which consistently stages the biggest fixtures in the game and offers outstanding facilities that can be utilised all year round. Part of my role will be to develop this multi-use philosophy further.”
Equipment specialist gets support from HSBC
Spillard Safety Systems, a supplier of specialist vehicle equipment, has secured a £525,000 loan from HSBC to help maintain critical supplier payments during lockdown. The Wolverhampton-based firm,
which mainly operates in the transport and quarrying sectors, supplies a range of vehicle safety solutions to high-profile companies including JCB, DHL and Volvo. The funding from HSBC has
allowed Spillard Safety Systems to maintain its payments during the pandemic to 40 different suppliers across the UK and China, as well as helping to ensure its furloughed colleagues receive their full salaries. The loan from HSBC was part of

the bank’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme, available for existing customers with a group turnover of up to £45m. Craig Spillard, finance director at
Spillard Safety Systems, said: “The safety of our colleagues is paramount to our business. Our drivers travel great lengths of the country and were at risk, so we decided to put our business on lockdown a week prior to the Government’s official announcement. “At the same time, we needed to
protect the future of our business and, thanks to our relationship manager at HSBC, we were able to continue to make supplier payments critical to the future success of our business.” Zena Perry-Hartle, HSBC UK area
