song. We headed back to our hotel smiling

from ear to ear, with ringing in our ears and a song in our hearts. Our last day in New York held some

going to attempt to sing Dickey’s songs and Chuck did it justice. I believe Dickey would have been proud. The second set featured classics like

“Aint Wasting Time No More,” “Melissa,” “Every Hungry Woman,” “In Memory of Eliza- beth Reed” and “One Way Out,” among oth- ers. I was struck as how timeless these songs are and as I listened to them I was taken back to the time I first heard each one, and all the life time of memories they hold for me and every other fan in the Garden this night. Thats what makes this music so special. It invokes memories for each person that are unique to each listener. Memories that last not only their life time, but for generations to come. “One Way Out” closed out set two, followeed by the encore of “Midnight Rider” and “Whip- ping Post,” both featuring all of the players on stage together. Just as fast as it started it was over. Four hours of the songs we love played by people who have earned the right to play them for us. Not a single person left the Gar- den unhappy or unsatisfied. I was skeptical that this even would happen at all with the Covid -19 virus growing by the day, and it seemed like fate and destiny that it not only happened but for my son and I to witness this once in a lifetime show together as our swan

more sight seeing and one of my favorite things we got to see. The New York Historical Society just happened to have on display the Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution exhibition, and what a massive collection of memorabilia it is, spanning the life of this amazing man who meant so much to the music of our life time. The rare photos and displays that walked you through his humble start as a Jewish orphan to one of the greatest promoters ever to grace the music business. Graham worked with a amazing list of who’s who in popular music, from the Grateful Dead to the Rolling Stones. This display runs through August, 2020 and is well worth the cost of admission. Our last night in New York found us at

the world Famous Birdland Jazz Club for the John Pizzarelli Quartet. What a amazing venue, and the talent of the musicians on stage was second to none. While this typre of venue and music falls outside my normal com- fort zone, I was drawn in to the stories and level of talent on display. We caught our ride back to the airport

the next morning and escaped New York in what seems now to be “just the nick of time” before the virus seemly took over. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the fine folks in New York and all over the world as we all join together to fight the silent enemy. What a amazing trip it had been. Amaz-

ing musicm and so many wonderful new memoriees were created. Make no mistake, the road truly does go on forever. •
