Fen| News The Return Of Roger The Dodger
Roger may be an unusual name for a female cat but she has certainly lived up to her reputation as Roger The Dodger!
The black cat went missing
from her Witchford home last September. She had wandered before, so initially, her owner did not worry too much. “Two months on, I was frantic and wandering around Witchford like a mad woman rattling cat treats and shouting Roger,” explains Roger’s owner Felicity Burns. “Lots of people on Facebook Witchford Residents group helped out with sightings which I investigated with no luck.” Around December Felicity started to receive information on a lot of sightings around Lancaster Way Business Park and on the road into Witchford.

“After trying several places with no luck I spoke to the Witchford Recycling Centre staff and they thought they had seen Roger and often had cat paw prints on the furniture
for sale,” said Felicity. "So they kindly said they would have a Catch Cage and hoped to catch Naughty Rog.” Christmas came and went

and Felicity had lost all hope and I went to collect the cage, lent by the Cats Protection League. But the Recycling Centre staff said could they try for a bit longer as they had seen Roger again and wanted to try one more place. Felicity reveals: “About two days later I had a call at 8.30am – ‘Hello Mrs Burns we think we have Roger in the cage and she is very cross’. “So I shot up there and lo and behold it was naughty Rog! “Five months after going missing and she was looking fit and well but disgruntled. When she saw me and heard my voice she started meowing which was amazing.”
Roger was kept under house arrest for five weeks before being allowed to start going out again. “The Witchford Recycling Centre team went above and beyond the call of duty,” says a delighted Felicity. “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff who helped out so kindly – they are all stars.”
