Originally known as the Witchford 96, Witchford FC can trace its roots to the formation of a football team back in 1996. That’s around the time some of the current players were born. The team now proudly sports a purple strip – changed from the original blue. ‘We are so grateful to local businessman and owner of Independence, Nick Holdsworth for supporting the team,” says club manager, Steve Stokes, “It’s meant that we now have the kit to be able to continue competing in the League.” Based on the Lancaster Way Business Park, Nick Holdsworth, of Independence, commented: “It’s important for local businesses to support the community in which they operate. “It’s a credit to Steve and his son Jake
