Dressmaking The Galloping Cat

Reports of The Galloping Cat’s retirement have been greatly exaggerated! But, we, Tom & Beryl, have retired from the

organising team of Pembrokeshire County Wedding Fair, along with Geraint “Dress for the Occasions” Laugharne and John Munt, of Bisley & Munts. There was no Galloping Cat stand at the September 2019 event as it proved too much to both have a stand and organise the wedding fair on the day! We will miss all the exhibitors this March and would like to take this opportunity to offer a big thank you to them and the Tenby Observer for all the support given over the years. Plus an extra thank you to exhibitors who were able to help with set up on the Saturdays before the fair and donated prizes for the Paul Sartori Foundation on the day raffle, much appreciated! And of course thank you to the Paul Sartori volunteers who made endless cups of tea and coffee for exhibitors – and visitors (and lot of washing up!). We would also like to thank Maura, our daughter, for organising things on the computer and looking after social media and Huw Thomas who has looked after the website – even though he has not exhibited for some time. So this spring we will have a bit more time for preparing seeds and plants for our big vegetable garden and still be in the workroom designing and making outfits and gowns. And wondering how best to celebrate Tom’s big birthday.

Tom & Beryl at the Galloping Cat have a very wide range of skills: they have made tents to hang on the Eiger, costumes for cabaret & dance and over recent decades Beryl has been design- ing bridal gowns and outfits – created with the customer and made especially for them. Tom does most of the machine sewing and hand finishing. Beryl, besides pattern cutting, has specialist skills in beading, embroidery – hand & machine – and hand painting, for that very personal touch; Pembrokeshire flowers, lilies… There are a range of dresses to try on to give you ideas and these would be available in a wide range of fabrics; but you can also start from scratch with your ideas. Waistcoats and cravats to match can be made.
