Inside BizSpace, where Acronyms are based

Acronyms mark period of growth with new office

Plymouth IT company Acronyms have capped a period of sustained growth by opening a new office in Bristol. Dave Smith (pictured), Managing

Director of Acronyms, co-founded the business over 15 years ago. He bought out his business partner in 2016, becoming MD. He promised his employees growth and, in the time since has steered the business to larger contracts and a blossoming reputation, supporting well known local businesses such as the National Marine Aquarium and Trewithen Dairy. The new office is Acronyms’

second and allows the company to tap into larger regional markets, not only in Bristol, but the surrounding areas of Gloucestershire, Bath and South Wales. Based at the BizSpace Equinox South Business Centre, the new office is situated alongside the M4/M5 interchange, granting the firm quick and easy access to the city of Bristol as well as the surrounding area. Inevitably Acronyms are

currently recruiting for employees in Bristol, but at the same time, are also on the lookout for Plymouth- based staff in a variety of roles. The company’s headquarters is situated at Plymouth Science Park, where they make use of the purpose-built data centre to offer cloud-based services. Dave is understandably excited

about the future of his business but is also keen to stress that Plymouth still has a big role to play in his future plans. He said: “I’m really proud to have

opened our second office. It’s the result of a tremendous amount of

hard work from each and every member of my team. Without their effort and talent, we wouldn’t be able to provide the service that we do, and without that, this new office simply wouldn’t be a reality. “As exciting as this all is

though, we won’t be forgetting about Plymouth or the journey that has resulted in today. Our headquarters will stay in Plymouth, we’ll continue to create jobs in the city, and we’ll always strive to provide our clients with the highest level of IT support on the market.” Dave also believes that

Acronyms’ story proves there is much success to be enjoyed by businesses across Devon. He added: “The narrative

surrounding business at the moment is all focused on doom and gloom. Everyone is talking about Brexit, the economy, the job market and why it’s so hard to succeed right now. I’m not saying there aren’t difficulties out there, of course there are, but there are always challenges in business. As a county we have a great deal to offer though, and it’s important that as a collective we remember that, and lead with a more positive narrative.”
