Wigton Motor Club recently held their annual awards dinner at the Skiddaw Hotel. Despite the adverse weather, there was a good attendance, with members coming from as far away as Perth and Manchester.

The overall club championship went to Phil Hodgson, who also sponsors the autotest series. Jacqui Raine was the ladies champion, while Geoff Rae and Peter Wright won the autotest and autosolo championships.

Events can’t take place without marshals and once again our stalwart marshal, Eddie Parson was the champion, missing very few of our, or other clubs’ events.

Ron and Malcolm Mounsey won the stage rally championship after their excellent year winning their class in the British Historic Rally Championship.

The Enthusiast of the Year went to David Agnew for his tremendous effort as project manager for the Motor House which is nearing completion.

David Marsden and Mike Garstang won the Historic Rally Awards series, while the sister Targa

WWW.COCKERMOUTHPOST.CO.UK series went to Phil Hodgson and Ian Giles.

Marian and John Sloan won class ‘P’ of the Historic series in their MG Midget.

The club held their first event of the year with the Early Spring Autosolo at Maryport. A great event saw drivers clock up some twenty minutes of tests with Pater Wright dominating the event in his Mini.

Next up is an autotest on 1st March, the Midweek Meander on the 11th and the speed test day on the 22nd.
