Welcome

A warm welcome to the 10th anniversary edition of Swimming Pool Scene – and what an outstanding ten years it has been.

WELCOME

Welcome to a packed April issue where we anticipate the forthcoming season with great excitement and with all fingers crossed for prolonged good weather for the warmer months ahead.

An exceptionally mild February and a later than usual Easter this year; like the ice cream sellers, we need a spell of sunshine to get the customers through the shops and showrooms and signing on the dotted line of the contract. Before the season takes off, we invite you to take time out to savour your April issue. We invite you to make a note of what other companies are doing to boost business and build those ideas into your own business plan. Watch out for companies like Barr and Wray, Cannings H20, Eagle Leisure, HTP, Opulent Pools, Oyster Pool & Leisure, Tanby Pools and Portrait Pools – all featured inside this issue.

While every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the content printed in Swimming Pool Scene, we welcome your feedback. Any errors that warrant correction or clarification will be quickly dealt with. Please email your feedback to: info@thewaterlandgroup.com

Don’t miss the potential to boost your ambitions via Astral UK who are ready, willing and able to become extended members of your pool building team. We also urge you to check that you are claiming all potential research and design tax benefits. Read all about it, inside this issue and contact the specialist Leyton team to find out more. We dedicate the April issue of Swimming Pool Scene to Golden Coast, whose team put so much time and energy into the annual Wet Leisure Survey. Find out this year’s facts and figures, inside this issue, and see how they could influence your business strategy and development plans. Take Care!

We also dedicate a significant amount of space to the forthcoming SPATEX show urging you not to miss this unique opportunity to meet so many suppliers all under one roof. What better opportunity to clear the desks and our minds, to spend time being informed, educated and inspired. We look forward to seeing you there.

Take Care and Keep in Touch! CHRISTINA CONNOR | Editor

The Waterland Media team had already been working with industry for well over ten years when, following a couple of Dr Who style generations, we launched our first independent magazine for the combined pool and spa markets in 2010.

It has been ten years that has seen the pool industry continue to evolve with the development of remote access control, heightened investment in more energy efficient construction, maintenance and refurbishment.

Out with the same old block and liner or concrete pool templates and in with more compact pool solutions like the one-piece pool, offering counter-current swimming, aquatic exercise and hydrotherapy.

One of those slow burning trends over the past ten years has been wellness, with improved health and lifestyle philosophies being adopted both at home and away. Look out for our extended focus on wellness in this issue as we feature the work of some leading players.

As the magazine celebrates its tenth anniversary, what perfect timing then to show you just some of the market leaders as we dedicate this issue to the UK Pool & Spa Awards. We run out of superlatives as we urge you to share the collective pride our industry with some simply outstanding water leisure projects. Another record-breaking year for the only competition that is open to all companies involved in the delivery of water leisure.

ABOVE: Welcome to your action-packed April edition of Swimming Pool Scene, always an unmissable read for the combined water leisure sectors.
