he 2019 Pool Technician of the Year Award has been posthumously awarded to Chris Walker of
London Swimming Pool Company, who passed away earlier in the year. Nine years ago, London Swimming Pool Company
hired Chris Walker as a project manager. His passion and skills in all areas of pool servicing and maintenance saw him quickly ascend to Head of Servicing. In this role, he was not only technically excellent, but a real asset on a personal level and was a team player. His hard work and plethora of skills and knowledge led to his recent appointment as our Technical Support Manager, where his role was to assist in the commission of new pool installations and to flag up potential technical issues to avoid problems.

POOL CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY Chris’ knowledge of pool care was virtually
unmatched; he had such a depth of expertise on water treatment, electrical fault solutions, and heating and ventilation issues. His ability to accumulate knowledge, and to use it to add value to the business and to his colleagues was one of his strongest attributes. Chris’ nature was infectious; his energy often made him appear larger than life, an energy that was very notable by its absence whenever he was out of the office. He always found the time to help colleagues who were tussling with tricky technical problems or in need of information from the encyclopaedia of pool knowledge in his head! LSPC lost Chris very suddenly in a road accident
this year. Chris’ passing is a significant loss, not just on a professional level, but on a personal one. He will always be remembered as a cheerful and upbeat member of the team who was generous with his knowledge and time. The UK Pool & Spa Awards 2019 presented this posthumous award in his memory, and in celebration of what a kind, positive, hard-working and loveable person he was.
