UK POOL & SPA AWARDS 2019
WATER LEISURE OSCARS
The UK Pool & Spa Awards promotes the entire pool, spa and wellness industries…
F
rom small seeds, the UK Pool & Spa Awards contest has grown year on year, setting new
benchmarks annually along the way. Designed to promote individual
companies involved in the delivery of swimming pool and hot tubs, the UK Pool & Spa Awards also aims to promote the water leisure industry as a whole. Celebrating the event’stenth
anniversary in 2020, the UK Pool & Spa Awards are structured so that as many companies as possible feel the benefits. Competition entries receive public votes and points from specialist judges before being assessed by an independent expert jury. All entries are judged to be either bronze, silver or gold standard
– ensuring maximum return on investment for everyone involved. All entrants receive framed certificates, which can be collected this evening. The competition attracted more than 80 companies this year – many of whom were first time contestants. A total of 15 judges were involved in the three tier judging process involving public votes, specialist judges’ votes and finally, a jury of adjudication. None of this would be possible without the generous support of the sponsors who help make a difference to so many companies within the water leisure sector. Sharron Davies made a welcome
return as this year’s VIP guest. Sharron has been one of the UK’s best known and most popular sportswomen since

bursting onto the scene as a 13 year old Olympian. Twice-voted British Press Sportswoman of the Year, Sharron’s incredible international career spanned three decades, included numerous major titles and medals, 200 British records, some of which stand to this day and an MBE awarded for services to sport. As usual, guests were invited
to support an adopted charity throughout the evening events. This year’s cause is very close to Sharron’s heart as she is an ambassador of Heidi’s Heroes, launched in 2013 as an ongoing and permanent tribute to Heidi Wood, a former world championship swimmer from Cheltenham, who died of cancer in 2012 aged 51.
