SECTOR FOCUS: LEGAL

Wolferstans goes from strength to strength

It has been a busy Autumn for Wolferstans’ Wills & Trust department. Danielle Penrose qualified as a Solicitor after

completing her training with the firm. Rebecca Bawler, a Chartered Legal Executive, was recognised for her hard work and contribution to local charities when she was awarded Plymouth Law Society’s Young Lawyer of the Year Award. Rebecca and Caroline Pellow, together with Emma

Evans (the firm’s Head of People) also attended the official launch of the Compassionate City initiative at Plymouth Guildhall. The Compassionate City project has been headed by St Luke’s Hospice, together with Plymouth City Council, and the aim is to encourage individuals, schools, businesses and organisations in Plymouth to support one another and those in the community, affected by end-of-life care and bereavement. Rebecca and Caroline have been working closely with St Luke’s and are part of the council’s Steering Group for the project. Wolferstans are very proud to be the first

business to receive an award for being a Compassionate Workplace after putting in place policies which demonstrate a compassionate approach to employees who are affected by dying, loss and bereavement. Many of the staff have also received training as a Compassionate Friend, which enables them to be able to show support and empathy to other staff members and clients alike. They also attended the Plymouth International Dementia Conference at the Guildhall on 12 November. This was a great event which saw organisations from all over the globe get together to discuss what they are doing to be Dementia Friendly. The firm is proud to say that all of the Wills and Trust department at Wolferstans, as well as many others in the firm, are Dementia Friends, meaning they have received training from the Alzheimer’s Society on dementia and how it can affect someone who has been diagnosed with the condition.

All three of the firm’s offices (North Hill, Plympton

and Plymstock) are also offering free information sessions at nearby locations where they will be on hand to discuss any legal queries you may have, specifically regarding the preparation of wills and lasting powers of attorney over some tea and cake. If you would like to know where the next session will be held, or if you would like them to attend your local community centre, group or workplace, please contact them.
