Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students have been involved in a workshop with our visiting Chef Marshall, Senior Chef Demonstrator/ Instructor at Bournemouth and Poole Catering College, with a specialist demonstration and hands on workshop to demonstrate how much we ‘eat with our eyes’.


Students learnt how using height, the addition of a sauce, a variation in texture and colour can bring about balance and interest to a plate of seemingly simple food.


The students thoroughly enjoyed the


demonstration of techniques and the chance to get hands- on with the food. This input will defi nitely help the students as they


progress in

Veganism Guest Speaker in Food & Nutrition


Year 11 students had an overview of veganism and plant-based diets. Jo Carey from Animal Aid, a food nutritionist who specialises in vegan diets, came into the Year 11 Food and Nutrition lessons to provide an informative session linking the vegan choices people are making to the environment and ethical choices in food provenance. Jo presented information through her own knowledge, video, quiz and taster samples for students to understand the nutritional elements relating the vegan diet to help them to absorb this for their studies.
