MEMBER PROFILES:

Name: Callum Age: 18

Length of time playing: I joined the club three years ago when I was 15

Reason for joining: I did a bit of cricket at primary school and really enjoyed it.

Best part: Coaching the younger players. It’s great to watch their confidence grow. It can be a bit scary for them at first, you can break a finger by catching the ball the wrong way, we teach them the cor- rect techniques so they don’t get hurt.

Club life: It’s a great club with lots of friendly people. There’s always a good atmosphere.

Other hobbies: I’m a big football fan. I support Derby County and have watched them play live a couple of times, the atmosphere is fantastic when we win.

Career ambition: To be a PE teacher. I’m going to university to do a primary edu- cation teaching course specialising in PE.

Music choice: All sorts. I like Eminem, Dr Dre, Gorillaz and Queen!

Christmas present request: I’m hoping for vouchers so I can buy my own laptop.

Christmas Day task: I’ll be helping with the turkey, I’ve been looking up the best ways to cook it with tips from Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsey.

Name: Mackenzie Age: 9 Section: I play for the Under 15s and Under 13s.

Favourite activity: Bowling. I like most parts of the game though; it’s great getting out in the fresh air. Matches: We play other teams in the area, usually away.

Achievements: I was successful in my trials which means I qualify for winter coaching so when I’m older I can play for the county in the Youth Development Squad.

Cricket - three word description: Frantic, exciting and ominous (you never know what’s going to happen!)

Practice: We train once a week in the summer, but I practise at home a lot. It’s easy to practise bowling in the back garden, you don’t need lots of space. Earlier this year I got to train in the nets with an overseas profes- sional from Sri Lanka.

Other hobbies: I play golf, I’m a member of Churston Golf Club and am training for Devon County. I’m also a goalkeeper for Brixham Football Club Under 10s team.

Career ambition: To become England cricket captain, England goalkeeper or be a golf pro - I aim high!

Favourite school subject: Maths. Pets: A lurcher called Lilly and a whippet called Poppy. Christmas present request: A Fitbit.

Top Christmas film: Polar Express. For more information go to www.brixhamcricketclub.co.uk

Ideal Christmas getaway: Paris to see the Eiffel Tower all lit up.
