PROPERTY VIEW By Richard Blake of Winkworth Dartmouth IS NOW THE RIGHT TIME TO SELL?

with, ‘it’s really more about the right time for you than trying to judge the wider market.’ There are, however, peaks and troughs during the year and being aware of the cycle will help you make the most of the opportu- nity. But don’t forget this does not take into account your own reasons for wanting to sell. Undoubtably, one of the best times to sell is early New Year following on from the Christmas season. The major property portals have their busiest day on Boxing Day usually with buyers starting their search.

W There are always different reasons for people not to

place their properties on the market but I really do feel that with all the uncertainty coming to a head shortly with a general election and, hopefully, a clear way to solve Brexit, then one way or the other, the pent up demand will be considerable going into the New Year. The run up to a general election is, of course, always a time of uncertainty having a direct impact

ithin the property market there is much writ- ten about when the best time to buy and sell is. When I am asked this question I often reply

on sentiment in the property market. That said, with this election just weeks away, now is a brilliant time to prepare your property for market. We are still short of properties as are most locations in the UK. I am sure, along with other professionals in the property industry, that the New Year will bring much more activity.

Life goes on and we are still agreeing sales with luxury riverside homes as well as family homes in the town generally proving popular. It is just the number of transactions that is reduced. The situation around the country is patchy with some areas seeing a marked decline in activity and others fairly buoyant. Our Brix- ham office, for example, is enjoying a very productive and busy period, helped of course by a stronger local market.

May we all at Winkworth Estate Agents take this opportunity to wish everybody in the town, our clients, present, new and old a very happy Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year.
