1. Why are you passionate about your specialty? Since experiencing the benefi ts and results of yoga fi rst hand since age
18, I have been passionate about sharing the gifts of
yoga...the physical, mental, and emotional health benefi ts that Yoga provides. It has been gratifying to see how Yoga truly is for every body.
2. What sets Sacred Rivers Yoga apart from other yoga studios?
We encourage people to listen to their bodies. We offer variations regardless of whether someone needs adaptive yoga or desires to chal- lenge themselves. We are non-competitive. We have a Yoga Therapy Public Clinic. We are a registered yoga alliance school at the 300 and 300 (500) level. We are a member school of the IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapy). We offer it all under one roof.
3. What is the best memory you have about being a holistic business owner? It is gratifying to watch yoga ripple out into so many markets, venues,
workplaces, schools, and hospitals as our students graduate and share the teachings of yoga. I remember one woman in particular whose life was falling apart. She had lost her job, her health, her husband. I watched as she found herself again through yoga. She told me later that coming to yoga at Sacred Rivers had been a lifeline for her. That touched me in a very deep place and reminded me of why I am, ‘holding the space’.

1. What do you like most about being a functional medicine practitioner?
I am passionate about self-discovery, exploration, and healing which is what I am fortunate enough to support patients with every day. There are not enough places where individuals can come to breathe, receive unconditional acceptance, positive refl ection, and simply just be. It is the most fulfi lling and rewarding career to be able to support individuals throughout their journey in creating new and alternative narratives, goals, and visions for themselves and their lives.
2. What sets you apart from other holistic practices? We have an individualized and team approach.
We listen to each family, to each child, to each other. With each family, we ask ourselves, “Have we done enough for this child?” and “What is it that this child needs to get or get rid of that they are not?” Each of us incorporates diet, nutrition, supplements, medications and therapies and keeps abreast of the latest national and international research and interventions.
3. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner?
I recently attended a social event where a nonverbal, autistic child under my care started talking for the fi rst time (incessantly throughout the event)! His dad was so emotional, appreciative and overwhelmed with joy. That is why we do what we do every day.
4. What do you like most about being part of Natural Nutmeg?
Community and education, two of the most important parts of our practice and of all of our lives. We are indebted to Natural Nutmeg for all of the information and interaction with other like-minded people they provide.
