1. Why are you passionate about your specialty?

I feel that there is a great need in our country to provide alternatives to drug therapy and surgical procedures which can sometimes be avoided by providing a natural, non-toxic treatment solution.

2. What sets you apart from other practitioners in the holistic fi eld?

As a licensed MD I am able to provide, when necessary, medications along with our natural treatments to achieve the best results. We also provide injectable vitamins, which can have a much greater effect than taking oral supplements.

3. What can patients expect from working with you?

We offer a friendly, relaxed healing environment where patients concerns are given the time and attention needed. I practice individualized medicine, not a cookbook approach.

4. What plans do you have for the future for your practice?

We are growing our practice of regenerative medicine and making more people aware of the options of Stem Cell Therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma treatments which can sometimes im- prove conditions not considered to be effectively treated by any current existing drugs on the market. This may allow a patient to avoid the need to have surgery.

5. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner.

Seeing patients respond to a natural therapy that they were

unaware existed because they were only informed about con- ventional drug therapy always gives me a feeling of great satis- faction. I have helped many patients who had previously seen a number of conventional MDs who could not help them with what is the current standard of care in conventional medicine. I was able to help one patient have a much faster recovery from a stroke and I helped another elderly man successfully improve his tremors. Both of these patients provided testimonials which can be seen on my website.

6. What do you like the most about being a part of Natural Nutmeg?

I appreciate the opportunity to expand the universe of people who are aware of the effectiveness of natural healing approaches.

7. What is your favorite place to travel, your favorite food, and your favorite hobby?

I love to play the guitar, travel anywhere new, and eat ethnic foods not always easy to fi nd at home.

Dr. Michelle Pouliot, ND D

r. Pouliot has been in practice for 28 years. Therapies often involve botanical medicines, vitamins, minerals, diet and lifestyle strategies. She provides annual physicals gynecological care. Her specialties include cardiovascular, digestive, endocrine and gynecological/hormones/sexual

health, as well as autoimmune conditions. 1. Why are you passionate about your specialty?

I am dedicated to empowering my patients to achieve the good health and vitality they are seeking to live the life they want. Though my special- ties include cardiology concerns, digestive issues such as IBS and SIBO, gynecology, hormone balancing, and sexual health; I’ve worked with many patients, women and men, with other health conditions. Patients may have the same diagnosis, but 28 years of experience has taught me, the journey to health is unique to each individual.

2. What sets you apart from other practitioners in the holistic fi eld? I’ve designed my solo practice so I always have an hour available

for each patient visit and take the time to review their chart before I see them. I schedule open time every offi ce day to be available for phone calls. I often request past medical records and spend hours of out of of- fi ce time researching, coordinating with their other physicians, ordering appropriate labs and tests and creating individual achievable treatment plans. Patients always get copies of their reports which we review. Thankfully, my patients want to be informed and involved, which I believe, is in of itself, therapeutic.

3. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner.

The most fulfi lling moments with my patients occur when we’ve

discovered a cause for their health challenge, and together we create a plan that inspires hope and move them towards healing.

H 1. Why are you passionate about your specialty?

Natural health care has always resonated with me. We weren’t a family that took medicines excessively or ran to the doctor frequently. My mother just helped support our bodies nutritionally and let our bodies heal natu- rally. I appreciate every opportunity to assist people in understanding that their bodies have the amazing capability to heal, but that it might need a little “help” via nutritional, structural or emotional therapies.

2. What sets you apart from other holistic practitioners?

I provide individualized care for the whole family. I work well with other physicians or specialty therapists to co-treat when needed or to make appropriate referrals that would be in the best interest of the

\patient’s healthcare needs. 3. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner.

I periodically utilize the Webster Technique during pregnancy when babies are breech. The maneuver balances the pelvic muscles and ligaments to reduce tension and twisting of the uterus which offers greater opportunity for the baby to move into the proper position for delivery. It brings me great joy to hear from the Mom’s that the baby has turned and aligned properly, usu- ally after the fi rst treatment, so those babies can be delivered naturally.
