News | Fenscene Community Responds To Livery Theft
n Members of the local equestrian community, friends, family, neighbours and villagers have pooled resources to help a young business woman whose livery yard was targeted by thieves last month.
Rhea McLeod’s livelihood was put in jeopardy when her Orchard Rise livery and schooling yard in Witchford, was broken into and every single piece of tack was stolen along with an array of yard equipment. It had taken the 27 year old horsewoman, 15 years to build the vital equipment for her livery business. “I am totally devastated and
incredibly angry that my yard was broken into and every single item of tack I own has been taken, including my livery tack,” said an emotional Rhea but who added: “I have been totally blown away by the kindness and generosity of friends, family and even total strangers over the last few days.” “I cannot thank everyone enough; from messages of support, offers of lending me stuff and even putting money towards a new riding hat. I honestly can’t put into words how much it has meant to me and how truly grateful I am.”
Local horse owners
reacted immediately, pitching in with offers of everything from saddles and bridles to riding hats.
All the drink gathered for party in a marquee on one of the livery fields was also taken, but her brother and sister-in-law’s wedding reception still went ahead. Launching a Go Fund Me page, Erin Braybrooke called upon local people to help Rhea replace her equipment and keep her dreams alive.

“Many people will know Rhea and know that she is a kind, generous and hardworking person and has worked hard to build her business over many years,” said Erin. “Unfortunately Rhea wasn’t
insured due to the high cost of insurance premiums and will struggle to replace her equipment.”

of tack including saddles and riding hats. They included: n Three generators (Wolf 7.5kVA, Honda 3kVA and 2kVA).
n Horse tack and saddles. n Paddock cleaner hoover (Lynx Predator).
n A blue air compressor. n A variety of fishing
Notably, the thieves stole a paddock cleaner hoover which they would have needed to tow away from the property. It is quite a distinctive piece of equipment that you may have seen in the local area. Please check any CCTV at your property that may have captured the culprits fleeing with the trailer on Tuesday October 3.
While investigations continue, any information regarding the theft would be greatly appreciated. If you can help in any way, please call 101 if you can help or visit to www.gofundme. com/f/help-replace- rheas-stolen-equestrian- equipment to make a contribution, however small.
