Joseph James Cardwell, of Newcastle upon Tyne, served with the 12th/13th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action during the Battle of Lys on 13 April 1918. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
William Percy Shaw, of Kirkburton, Yorkshire originally attested in Huddersfield for his local West Riding Regiment. Transferring to the 23rd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (Tyneside Scottish), he served during the Great War on the Western Front, and was taken Prisoner of War. Whilst being repatriated he died at sea aboard the hospital ship SS Guildford Castle on 8 January 1919, and is buried in Kirkburton Churchyard. The cause of death is listed as cardiac failure due to gunshot wounds.
William George Lockyer, of Bickley, London died on 28 March 1919 whilst serving in the Punjab. He was a member of the 1st Garrison Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment, a battalion formed of men otherwise unfit for military service. He is commemorated on the Karachi 1914-1918 War Memorial in Pakistan. The British War Medal is his sole entitlement.
John Shaw, of Nottingley, near Pontefract, served with the 7th Battalion, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 22 July 1915, and died of wounds received during the Battle of the Somme on 7 October 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

M.C. London Gazette 26 September 1916: ‘For conspicuous gallantry during a counter-attack. When the senior Captain was wounded he took over the command of the attacking line and drove off the advancing enemy.’
Edmund Hilton Dadd was born in Lewisham and was educated at Aske’s School for Boys. Employed by Messrs Butlert’s, of Lombard Street, London, he served for five years in the Queen’s Westminster Rifles, and following the outbreak of the Great War re-joined on 3 August 1914. He served as a Sergeant with the 1st/16th Battalion (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) during the Great War on the Western Front from 1 November 1914, before being commissioned Temporary Second Lieutenant into the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 24 October 1915. He served with his new unit on the Western Front, and was awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry at Bazentin-le- Petit in June 1916, where he took charge of two companies when his senior commander was wounded.
Dadd was promoted to Captain on 6 July 1916 and took part in the opening stages of the Battle of the Somme. He was killed in action on 3 September 1916 during an attack on a German position north of Ginchy. His Commanding Officer wrote: ‘Edmund’s death is a great loss to the the battalion. He was my best Company Commander, and was a born soldier. We were all very much attached to him, and he was so cheery under the most trying circumstances.’
A fellow officer of Dadd’s also wrote: ‘As a sportsman, soldier, and gentlemen he has never been surpassed. The men loved him.’ Dadd has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.

Kenelm Julian Stevenson, of Islington, London, served with the 16th Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers during the Great War on the Western Front, and died on 26 August 1918. He is buried in the Daours Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
David Gower, of Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, served with the 9th Battalion, Welsh Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 July 1915 and died of accidental wounds on 23 November 1915. He is buried in the Chocques Military Cemetery, France.
Richard George Heath was born in Wareham, Dorset and served with the 6th Battalion Leinster Regiment during the Great War in Gallipoli, having previously served with the Wiltshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 10 August 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
John Tobin, of Dublin, served with the 2nd Battalion, Connaught Rangers during the Great War on the Western Front, and died of wounds on 28 April 1915. He is buried in Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery, France.

John A. Falla was born in Mortlake, Surrey, and served with the East Surrey Regiment (Territorial Force) during the Great War, and was additionally entitled to the Territorial War Medal.
Myler Barnes Falla, the brother of Sergeant John A. Falla, was born in Mortlake, Surrey, and served with the 18th (County of London) Battalion, London Regiment (London Irish Rifles) during the Great War on the Western Front. He died of wounds in Belgium on 10 November 1916, whilst being tended to at the 4th London Field Ambulance, and is buried in the Brandhoek Military Cemetery, Belgium.
