John A. Hibbert attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 1st/8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 21 August 1915.
Frank Wortham attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with them during the Great War in the Aisatic theatre of War from 13 August 1915, before transferring as a Sergeant to the Bedfordshire Regiment (Territorial Force).
Robert William Clarke attested for the Middlesex Regiment on 20 October 1914 and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 7 April 1915. He was discharged sick on 29 December 1915, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
Albert Sidney Gudgon attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 3rd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 January 1915. He was convicted of desertion on 20 February 1917, and his original application for Great War medals was refused, although he was later allowed to re-apply and the original refusal was rescinded.

John W. Rowland attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with them during the Great War in the Balkan theatre of War from 9 August 1915.
William Robert Scott attested for the Middlesex Regiment on 20 October 1914 and served with the 4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 January 1915. He was discharged due to sickness on 11 December 1915, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.
Harry Ray attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 December 1914.
Reginald Souster was born in Wood Green, Middlesex, and attested there for the Middlesex Regiment. He served with the 12th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 25 July 1915, and was killed in action on 26 September 1916 during the Battalion’s assault on Thiepval- going over the top they were met by intense machine gun fire, but in spite of this, and mounting casualties, they captured and held their objectives. For their gallantry during this action, Privates Frederick Edwards and Robert Ryder were both awarded the Victoria Cross, 2 of the 42 decorations (not including Mentions in Despatches) that were awarded to the Battalion for this one attack. Total battalion casualties for the day were 9 officers killed and 7 wounded, and 149 other ranks killed and 265 wounded. Souster was amongst those killed- he has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
William Sheldon attested for the Middlesex Regiment and served with the 4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914.

Moses James Richardson, of Gosport, Hampshire, served during the Great War as a Leading Stoker in H.M.S. Queen Mary, and was present at the Battle of Jutland, 31 May 1916, when, under the command of Captain C. I. Prowse, Queen Mary engaged the German ships SMS Seydlitz and SMS Derfflinger during the opening phase of the Battle. One of Derfflinger’s shells scored a direct hit on Queen Mary’s ‘Q’ turret detonating the magazines and breaking the ship in two. She was sunk with the loss of 1,266 crew and only 18 survivors. Moses was amongst those killed, and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.

Herbert Edward Robinson was born in Chertsey, Surrey in May 1890, and in 1911 he was living in Wimbledon working as a printer. He died of disease on 6 December 1916 whilst serving at the Royal Naval Air Station at Kingsnorth, Kent (H.M.S. President II) and is buried at the Gap Road Cemetery in Wimbledon. The roll shows the British War Medal as his only entitlement.

Issa Salem served during the Great War as a Fireman in the Egyptian Coastguard vessel Nuhr-el-Bahr, and is confirmed as receiving a 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, and Victory Medal on the Royal Naval Medal rolls under the list of Egyptian Government Service recipients, with his medals being issued by the Director General of the Coastguard, Alexandria.’
The Nuhr-el-Bahr was a 450 ton vessel built in 1884, which was damaged by gunfire from the enemy submarine U-35 at the Port of Sollom on 5 November 1915.
