Samuel Fox was appointed Surgeon in the Royal Navy in 1800 and was Surgeon of H.M.S. Mondavi during the operations off the coast of Egypt in the following year. He died at Shoreditch on 23 May 1853.
Mondavi was a 16-gun brig-sloop taken from the French in the Mediterranean in 1798. Sold with original named Admiralty transmission letter, dated 30 November 1850, complete with Admiralty red wax seal.
