Lytchett Minster School
Now into its eighth year, the Lytchett Lecture Series continues to go from strength to strength. Originally started in 2011, Lytchett Minster School became one of the few schools in Dorset to present a free of charge lecture series aiming to make university-style lectures more accessible to students, parents and the wider community.
Our 40-minute lectures, which are followed up by a 20-minute question and answer session, have attracted a variety of speakers including historians, TV presenters and local university lecturers – who have presented a wide range of talks ranging from WWII history, local history and cutting-edge brain technology to ecological issues, politics and science.
We are delighted to introduce some fantastic speakers who will be joining us in November. On Tuesday 12th November, Daniel Whalen from the University of Portsmouth will be talking to us about ‘The Origins of the First Supermassive Blackhole in the Universe’. On Thursday 28th November we are pleased to welcome back Dr Guy Sutton from the University of Nottingham Medical School who will be presenting his talk ‘Keep Off the Grass: Drugs and the Brain’. We will also be holding our annual Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 7th November, from 6-8pm.
