‘OUR AUTUMN FESTIVAL RAISED £2,001!’


In , we held our first autumn estival, inspired y our s love o the season. e egan planning as soon as the new intake had settled at school and we had finished all our new parent events. ctivities included origami, apple


stamping, scarecrow lucky dip, apple oing, pumpkin hoopla, ghost owling and a selfie station. e also had estival glitter and spooky ace paint, plus a stall selling alloween merchandise and costumes. e had lea and conker painting, which we prepared y asking the children to collect leaves and conkers eorehand and leave them at the school ofice. ur head wasnt comortale with the idea o pumpkin carving, so instead we had a pumpkin decorating stall, which proved very popular. ecoration was really important


to create the right atmosphere. e used old cardoard oes painted

and cut into alloween and autumnal designs. wo new reception mums rought together volunteers to paint witches hats, lack cats, pumpkins, leaves and huge harvest scenes. It was a great way to engage parents that were new to the school, and oth mums have since een in charge o decorations or three other events. s the estival included sparklers


and firepits or roasting marshmallows, we had a well thoughtout risk assessment. he firepits were located in a gated area, which a set numer o people were allowed in at any one time. ll children had to e accompanied y an adult, and we had a first aid volunteer wearing protective gloves in the area at all times. here were water and sand uckets net to each pit. he sparklers were lit y a volunteer and children used them in a designated area.


e started promoting the estival


three weeks in advance o the event date through the school ofice and social media. he estival lasted or two hours and was held on a riday. here was no charge or entry as it was straight ater school, so this would have een hard to administer. e charged p or games,


 or ood and drink and  or activities. he iggest profitmakers were the arecue and ar, where we sold hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. e raised a total o , rom approimately  attendees. I youre thinking o running an
