Installing a multi-use games area (MUGA) opens up many opportunities for schools, allowing them to offer a wide range of sports in one place, year-round. Eco-friendly company Green Scheme offers a variety of surfaces, including artificial, grass, rubber mulch, rubber crumb, wet pour and grass mats. Sports such as hockey, football, tennis and netball can take place safely on these all-weather surfaces, and many schools are also able to boost their income by renting out their MUGAs to local community groups.

To maximise capacity, sports nets are used to divide the space so that different classes can use it at the same time. The construction phase took place during the summer holidays to minimise disruption and the pupils were thrilled with their exciting new pitch when they returned for the new term. Outdoor gyms are great for promoting physical exercise, giving students the chance to have fun while staying fit. Whether used by individual students or groups, they offer versatility to children of all ages and abilities, and are excellent value for money as they are low maintenance and can work within a limited space. Playquest offers a number of bespoke outdoor gym packages for both primary and secondary schools. One of its most popular packages is the Primary School Gym Pack 1, which is designed to introduce children age seven to 11 to gym-style exercise. The equipment can be set out as a trim trail and is ideal for play time or for a structured PE class.
