LIFE JACKET LOCKERS

The latest news, keeping residents and harbour users up to date.

The first set of lifejacket lockers provided by the RNLI have been installed on the Dart Yacht Club pontoon. These are for the use of those who come ashore using ten- ders, dinghies and other personal watercraft. The lockers can be operated with a £1.00 coin which is refunded when the locker is opened. We are hoping that extra lockers will be positioned on the embankment by the double steps in time for next season.

It will therefore be particularly important that we are able to reach customers and that the information sent out in invoices is understood by those addressed.

Capt. Mark Cooper REGATTA 2019

Dart Harbour would like to thank the regatta chairman, committee, volunteers and other organisations who work with us to maintain safe- ty on the water during this busy period and helped to make the 2019 regatta a success.

The regatta is always a busy

period for us, and this year was no exception. One of the ways that we measure demand for our services from visitors is the number of over- night stays taken. In August 2019 we saw an 18% increase, with a pattern of visitors staying for longer periods.

We recognise that a longer stay means that visiting customers will be likely to contribute more to the local economy. This is. therefore, something we will continue to actively encourage. With this in mind we intend to offer discounts to boats visiting for more than two nights during the food festival. Further details of this offer will be published on the Dart Harbour website.

DART HARBOUR CUSTOMER ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT

Dart Harbour is intending to refresh their accounting and harbour management systems and adjust our financial routines at the beginning of 2020. The purpose of the change is to help the Authority to process and analyse near real time financial information so that we are able to improve our service to customers and those on the waiting lists.

This change should largely be

transparent to river users, but success will depend upon the Au- thority having accurate and up to

Please take time to look at and check 2020 invoices as your timely response will help us to further improve our allocation process. If you do receive an invoice and no longer wish to take up the offer of a berth, then please let us know as soon as you can. Also, if you are uncertain about taking up an offer then it would be good to make early contact with the office.

The first part of this process will

be to check we have good custom- er communications, with email as our preferred communication tool, so if you receive an email asking for a response please reply as this will save us having to write to you using the postal service. We will then be able to keep all of our customers up to date with any changes that affect them.

The Dart Harbour team are avail- able on callsign ‘DARTNAV’ on VHF Ch11 on the river and at the office on (01803) 832337 during opening hours.
