Tomato & red pepper gazpacho with Heritage tomatoes, creamy melting burrata, fresh basil; this cool summer starter encapsulated sunshine in a bowl with layers of flavour, delicate and yet intense, - you could not help but smile! Pan fried scallops atop balsamic macerated strawberries, tongue tingling rocket salad, luscious fresh strawberries – classic combinations but somehow fresh, original; lightly crisped bi-valves with sweet, soft inners; presentation, stylish and contemporary. Pan fried Hake, à la ballotine, nestled amidst chorizo and chickpea cassou- let, with crispy squid, beneath freshly


picked Nasturtium leaves glistening with chorizo oil. I dislike chickpeas but this I would happily order again … firmly flaking meaty white Hake holding its own against its pungent setting. Creedy Carver duck breast, perfectly pink, perfectly crisped; maple and soya glaze, sweetcorn, pak choi; duck samosa stuffed with tender, moist pulled duck leg, sweet potato rosti – incredible that a plate as delicious as this was just one of many because this Asian inspired treatment alone justifies a visit. Exotic fruits tumbling over meringue refreshed the palate, before we end- ed, utterly sated, with semi-sweet, semi-tart poached


rhubarb, crumbly moist Polenta cake, lactic-tangy crème fraiche sorbet. The entire meal, a masterclass in balance and harmony; nothing over- powered, jarred; no extraneous ele- ments disturbed the integrity of each dish. Varied serving plates and bowls carefully selected to complement the individual presentations exquisitely. This was fine dining personified and we were thoroughly spoilt.
