JOIN THE BCC TRADE SUMMIT
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) will host its next International Trade Summit in October. The event gives delegates practical advice, invaluable resources and the
contacts needed to grow their business and begin the next step of their export journey. The summit is designed to give businesses, whatever stage of the export
journey they are at, help to take their business to the next level. There is a choice of informative workshops, lively panel discussions,
stimulating speeches from policy makers, successful exporters and household names as well as plenty of time for networking.
Accredited Chambers of Commerce, such as Milton Keynes Chamber of
Commerce, will have complimentary tickets available for members who are interested in the export agenda. Members are invited to contact Milton Keynes Chamber as soon as possible to be considered for a complimentary ticket. The BCC will also have some complimentary tickets available for
exporters or businesses looking to export to attend the event. Businesses can check if they meet the criteria for the tickets by emailing

LEARN THE EXPORTING BASICS
An export sales consultant is reminding international traders not to forget the basics when exporting. John Milner (pictured), from
Alium Consultants Limited, is encouraging exporters to undertake proper market research on demand and competition, as well as thorough research in to the new market. He said: “When an order
unexpectedly arrives from an overseas customer, it’s easy to get caught up by the idea of selling into new foreign markets. But processing a one-off
order is very different to supporting a full-blown export drive into an unknown territory. With some basic considerations however, together with some sound planning, it could start a journey that helps your business both grow and prosper.” John, who has been helping
clients achieve success overseas for more than 20 years, recommends investigating local differences in foreign markets and how you might get paid for your product and service before making the leap. “There are lots more
considerations, but often I have
worked with clients who have ignored these basic issues,” he said. “They have spent money,
resources and time trying to develop into the wrong markets, only to conclude that ‘exporting isn’t for my company’! “Exporting creates huge
opportunities for any business, but only if the basics are taken care of first.”
