BUSINESS REPORT POLICY MATTERS
The Chamber’s Policy Executive DEVEN ATTWELL represents your views to the people who matter.
At Milton Keynes Chamber we engage with a wide variety of local, regional and national organisations to push for changes that make life easier for business and stimulate growth. Recently, we’ve been involved in
high level discussions with the British Chambers of Commerce to communicate the views, concerns and priorities of local businesses over Brexit with the Business Secretary and top tiers of Government. While we can’t claim to know
what the future holds for Britain - and nor would we guess - here at Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce we are abreast of all the latest happenings and can support local business in tackling any
obstacles they may face. Members looking for the latest information about Brexit can find guidance on the Chamber’s website under the Representation tab. We’ve met with the British
Business Bank to discuss the finance options available to small and medium sized businesses; ranging from options such as proof-of-concept, debt finance and equity loans. We have collaborated with them on how to communicate this information to businesses so the British Business Bank and the Midlands Engine Investment Fund can help organisations to realise their potential. We also attended a Milton Keynes
Development Partnership Station Square Stakeholder Workshop,
which is asking for local people to give their suggestions on how Station Square could be improved. We hold regular meetings with
the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) to discuss the Chamber’s Quarterly Economic Survey, the Growth Hub and skills and employment in the area. We have also attended the
Oxford Cambridge Arc Development Conference to explore how Milton Keynes can capitalise on being in the centre of this arc which will drive economic growth to the region. We are always keen to engage
with members to understand the barriers they are facing or the successes they are experiencing.

MARREN GROUP HEATS UP AT AWARDS
Microwave repair and service specialists Marren Group have been honoured at the Foodservice Equipment Journal Awards 2019. Marren Group took the crown for
The Service & Maintenance Specialist of the Year Award, at a gala ceremony in Birmingham. The award recognises the service
and maintenance providers that come to the rescue when it’s most needed, whether by efficiently carrying out PPMs or ensuring high first-time fix rates. Judges were impressed with the
company’s forward-thinking technology. In an industry first, Marren has
invested in smart glasses for its engineers, which means managers can see exactly what an engineer is looking at in real-time and provide support. A six-figure
investment in a Smart Service management system has delivered huge benefits by allowing Marren to provide customers with a complete overview of their estate, general condition of equipment and service status. All 56 of its vans have been
