Paris!), this storybook city is the financial heart of Europe.

We had a dunk-fest of a lunch at Adler’s Swiss Churchi, famous for their decadent fondues. 10,000 calories and eight Swiss francs later…

Don’t let talk of how expensive Zurich is get to you. Sure, you’re paying a bit more for products there, but it’s because you’re pay- ing for top quality. Too, if you pick and choose wisely you can actually get some good deals on the items that we actually spend a lot more for here in the States - like chocolate! (A Lindt candy bar there is a cou- ple bucks less than it is at my local outlet, so many were brought back home with us.)

I would absolutely recommend this Viking cruise, with the understanding that it comes with the adjoining starter in Paris and the conclusion in Zurich, which adds a bit of weariness and schlepping to the mix. Like I stated, I could have done without Paris this time around…

I don’t suggest going with Viking if you’re under the age of, say, forty - only because you may not find other shipmates to hang

out with who are in your age range. But you won’t find better food, staff or surround- ings.

The crew really was stellar. They really helped to make the trip even better for us.

It was an incredible trip, but we were really glad to arrive home safely, as colds diminished and everyday life resumed.

Thankfully, my house survived our absence. Our daughter did a fantastic job with keeping the homestead clean and orderly, the houseplants alive, and she didn’t even have one party while we were away. I may have purchased the additional spirits package on board the ship, yet my own liquor cabinet at home remained gloriously untouched!
