Q: What areas of growth (in Lancaster, the Hotel, the Convention Center) have you seen recently?

Lancaster is truly a burgeoning arts, culinary and dining destination. With over 8.3 million visitors in 2018, Lancaster City is undergoing a tourism resurgence, transitioning from once- Amish country to a bustling, dynamic city with over 200 shops, 90+ dining options (as well as the nation’s oldest public farmers market, Central Market), a robust art community and award-winning performing arts venues such as the Fulton Theatre and the Ware Center - all lo- cated within Lancaster Marriott’s backyard. For meeting planners and attendees alike, Lan- caster City and the Lancaster County Conven- tion Center provide a big-city experience of incredible quality at great value.

Q: Why choose Lancaster for an annual meeting, convention or trade show?

Lancaster is a place where heritage and modern come together. The community has a rich tradition of amazing gathering places and that has never been more evident than today. We offer his- torically significant architecture, sophisticated boutiques, gal- leries, and restaurants lining the streets of our city. A walkable urbanity. The addition of Lancaster Marriott’s East Tower adds 110 additional guest rooms to the property, allowing for larger groups to stay on-site while meeting at the adjacent Lancaster County Convention Center.

Q: Which market segments are best suited to bring their annual conferences/conventions to the area with the recent expansion?

The Lancaster County Convention Center is a great fit for every- one. We have multiple event spaces where we can host groups as small as five people, to groups as large as 5,000 attendees.

A new rooftop bar, The Exchange, and a modern

American dining concept, Plough, will make their debut

in the heart of downtown Lancaster. The Exchange will

offer a vibrant social experience and panoramic views of Lancaster City 12 stories above ground atop historic

Penn Square. This new venue will serve as a year-round gathering place for locals and

visitors. With proximity to the Lancaster County Convention

Center, The Exchange is expected to open in July 2019, while

Plough will open in late summer. Mid-AtlanticEvEnts Magazine 49
