Founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, the Russian National Ballet built their invigorating take on traditional Russian ballet from their newfound political freedom. The company focuses on upholding the grand national tradition of major works while developing new talents throughout Russia. Pushing the boundaries of ballet well into the 21st century, the National Ballet enlightens and inspires. A crowning jewel of Marius Petipa’s career and with music by Tchaikovsky, Sleeping Beauty is a supreme demonstration of steel pointe work, sharply accented spinning turns, soaring leaps, and daring lifts.
