Alicia Olatuja has been astounding audiences with her exquisite vocals, artistic versatility, and captivating presence since she first came into the national spotlight in 2013, performing as the featured soloist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. Her sophomore record, Intuition: From the Minds of Women, celebrates female artists and singers including Sade, Tracey Chapman, and Kate Bush while offering a musical perspective unique to this rising star. Olatuja returns to the Flynn following her 2016 appearance with Billy Childs and his Laura Nyro project for this special Valentine’s Day performance.

An award-winning ensemble of eight all-star performers, the SFJAZZ Collective takes a truly unique approach to connecting jazz’s past, present, and future. Each year, the collective creates and performs eight new works and eight new arrangements of tunes by an honored artist. In the footsteps of honorees such as Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane, the group celebrates the 50th anniversary of Miles Davis’ In a Silent Way and Sly & the Family Stone’s Stand!, serving up fresh arrangements of these classics alongside new compositions from this acclaimed Bay Area ensemble.
