Charles Lloyd & the Marvels with Lucinda Williams
Friday, April 17 at 8 pm $62/$52/$42
“Charles Lloyd is an international treasure.” —Carlos Santana
When Lucinda Williams first joined Charles Lloyd & the Marvels on stage at UCLA’s Royce Hall in 2017, each musician beamed in the kinetic moment shared between the artists and the audience. That same energy buzzes throughout the studio album that resulted from the impromptu collaboration, and now Lloyd, his Marvels, and Williams bring their enchanted alliance to the Flynn. Featuring a supergroup of Bill Frisell on guitar, Greg Leisz on pedal steel, Reuben Rogers on bass, and Eric Harland on drums, the Marvels “perfectly represent the idea that the best jazz needs to be experienced live” (New York Times).
