Support provided by care home is rated outstanding

A local in-home care provider, who offer specialist support to clients across Plymouth and the surrounding areas, is celebrating after having been awarded an outstanding rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Caremark Plymouth can now count themselves among the top three per

cent of adult social care services delivering an outstanding standard of care in the country and among the top five per cent delivering this standard in Plymouth. Graham Livingston, Managing Director, is thrilled to

celebrate the result with his Registered Care Manger, Karen Holmes, and all the dedicated staff, both in the office and working out in the community. Inspectors rated Caremark Plymouth outstanding for

loved one, when there was no one else for the client to turn to. The second example was when a care worker fostered a client’s pet until they were well enough to resume caring for it on their own. Former engineer Graham launched Caremark Plymouth with wife, Alison,

‘I’m proud to employ

their leadership and compassion. The report, published on 2 April, said that: “People consistently told us how they were treated with exceptional kindness, compassion and respect. One person told us, ‘All the staff are exceptional; the care they give is second to none. They are of the highest standard. I feel totally safe and cherished in their care’.” The inspector also noted that: “There were positive, respectful working

relationships with external professionals. There was a passion for continuous learning, improvement and sustainability. “People overwhelmingly told us how wonderfully kind and

compassionate the staff were. Comments included, ‘Kind and lovely staff with such a good approach. They are not just carers they are my friends’. People were supported by staff who truly cared about them and went the extra mile to make sure they felt loved and were happy.” Care workers were commended for continually going above and beyond

for the 200 local clients who receive their care. The inspector acknowledged two specific cases of exceptional support. The first instance saw one care worker helping a client plan a funeral for a

a qualified Occupational Therapist, in October 2012. The compassionate couple made the decision to start an in-home care company in the hope of making a positive impact for vulnerable people living locally. Graham said: “I’m proud to employ such a wonderful team

such a wonderful team and offer them career opportunities’

and offer them career opportunities in what can be a very rewarding, yet demanding, role. This result is a real testament to their dedication to providing a great quality of care to vulnerable people living in the area. I’d particularly like to thank my Care Manager, Karen, for all that she has done to continually go above and beyond to ensure our team feel supported. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her and her dedication to our clients is so admirable. I’m so pleased to celebrate with her and all of our staff.”

This was the third CQC inspection carried out on Caremark

Plymouth since Graham and Alison launched the business. Karen, who joined the team in 2014 with over 20 years’ experience in the social care sector, is constantly inspired by the team she works with. She said: “It’s a wonderful feeling to come to work every day and be

surrounded by people who are so committed to providing outstanding care in the community. Our care workers do incredible things, every day, so they truly deserve the recognition for their continued dedication to providing quality care. Improving the lives of our clients each day brings a huge sense of wellbeing. I think it’s important to take a step back once in a while to recognise our achievements and this rating from CQC is one of those chances.”
