Bishop Fleming Plymouth staff celebrate the firm being in the city for 30 years

Bishop Fleming comes together for a year of centenary celebrations

2019 is a big year for the Top 30 professional services firm, Bishop Fleming, as it celebrates being founded 100 years ago, and since 1919 it has gone from strength to strength. As part of their centenary celebrations, the firm, which delivers audit,

accounting, tax and advisory services to businesses and private wealth advice to individuals, is aiming to raise £100,000 this year for charity. To mark its milestone, the firm, which has seven offices across the South

West and the Midlands, began fundraising in January and has already reached its half way mark. The 12-month campaign has brought together firmwide,

regional and sector clients and employees and throughout the first quarter of the year, most of its 340-employees have partaken in various activities and challenges. In March, colleagues from each office came together,

along with clients and friends, to enter the Bath Half Marathon – a team of 120 entrants in total, making the firm the biggest corporate team to enter the race in its 37- year history. Its Plymouth office, based in Sutton Harbour, has pledged

Robert Davey, Partner in Plymouth, said: “Our centenary is not simply

about a birthday or looking backwards, but rather an opportunity to position our business for the future. “The BF 100 project has been a good example of people from across the

firm coming together for a common cause. “We are committed to supporting communities and clients that sustain

to raise a significant amount for St Luke’s, a local hospice charity that provides specialist care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses in Plymouth, South Devon and East Cornwall. The centenary year also coincides with the Plymouth office’s 50th

anniversary. To help make it a memorable year, Plymouth office staff are undertaking personal challenges to help raise charity funds. Accountant Harriet Reynolds shaved her head and raised a staggering

£1,520. A quiz night was organised and some will endure the Three Peaks challenge in June, while others will undertake different events such as cycling or walking 100 miles. The Plymouth Bishop Fleming team are also sponsoring St Luke’s Elmer

Big Parade, which will see a fun, interactive trail of elephants dotted around the city later in the year. The firm will also provide ‘fun days’ for its clients in conjunction with the Elmer trail to help boost their donation pot, and will also host celebrations for Elmer’s 30th Birthday in June.

us. It’s entirely fitting in our centenary year that our people have pledged to raise £100,000 for charities. “In Plymouth, we are aiming to raise a significant amount for St Luke’s. We have supported the independent charity for the past two years and are continuing to do so throughout our centenary year. Above all, our centenary is proof that strong relationships deliver remarkable results. We are a thriving business which deliver exceptional client services.” The firm is not only using it’s centenary to raise a significant amount of money, it’s also investing and developing its future. It has had a full rebrand, a new

intranet, a redesigned website and other developments which have all been implemented as part of the firm’s centenary strategy: “It’s what we bring together, that sets

us apart”. This strategy reflects how the firm is a forward-thinking,

relationship-led business and is proof that strong relationships deliver remarkable results. Bishop Fleming believe that the quality of its relationships will make it a dominant firm in the region and – as business connections become increasingly important – a national practise. The firm prides itself on placing its clients and people at the heart of the business. The firm continues to innovate and in its latest independent survey it was

awarded Gold status by Investor in Customers. It has also featured in the Top 100 companies to work for list by The Sunday Times for four consecutive years and is the highest placed professional services firm in the South West. Its achievements have given the firm a lot to celebrate within its

milestone year.
