Giant omelette in Bessières Easter weekend 2020


Who said that all Easter eggs have to be of the chocolate persuasion? If you like your œufs fried, look no further than Bessières, Haute-Garonne. Every Easter, local chefs donning whites and toques cook up a giant omelette using 15,000 eggs – and everyone queues up for a slice. Apparently, this quirky practice stems from none other than Napoleon Bonaparte, who, upon his visit to the area, enjoyed his eggs so much that he demanded a mammoth version for his troops. The multi-day celebration invariably includes dancing, music, parades and an egg hunt for the kids, but the omelette-making is the main event. This is the Global Brotherhood of the Knights of

Salon du Chocolat October 30 to November 3, 2019 Satisfy your sweet tooth with a trip to the most exalted chocolate show in all of Paris… nay, the world! Where else would you get to enjoy sugar- laden treats from the best international chocolatiers and pastry chefs, gripping competitions and a taste of cocoa couture at a chocolate fashion show? This high-profi le event draws 500 exhibitors or so each year, among them leading chefs from around the globe.
