The Chamber’s Rob Bentley addresses a packed-out room Celebration event is a huge success
More than 60 guests attended the D2 Business Starter Programme Celebration Event in Ambergate recently to celebrate the success of the programme, which has supported 426 individuals and created 139 new SMEs so far. To date, the D2 Business Starter
Programme – a fully-funded initiative which gives all Derbyshire residents the opportunity to explore their business potential and learn how to set up a new business – has hit a number of impressive milestones. It has offered 8,000 hours of
support to over 400 individuals, with workshops also held in 14 separate locations across Derby and Derbyshire. The dedicated website –
www.pushthebuttontoday.com – has received over 5,500 visitors.
The workshops and one-to-one
support available enables those on the programme to benefit from expert, specialist support – irrespective of how far developed a business idea is. The event saw a welcome from
Rob Bentley of the Chamber before speeches from Councillor Tony King of Derbyshire County Council, Councillor Chris Poulter of Derby City Council and a keynote address from Max Vaughan, of White Peak Distillery. Guests also heard from Fiona
Colson, Liam Parker, Nick Walker and Eloise Barnett, all of whom have used the D2 Business Starter
Programme to positively impact their fledgling businesses. The event was a huge success
and feedback from clients and stakeholders was overwhelmingly positive. In his speech, Councillor Tony
King stated: “I’ve been involved in many start-up programmes over the years and the D2 Business Business Starter Programme is one of the best.” Paul Stuart, Head of Enterprise
at the Chamber, said: “The D2 Business Starter Programme Celebration Event was an overwhelming success and it was extremely rewarding to see so

New Midlands Export Champions unveiled
The 2019 cohort of Midlands Export Champions has been announced by the Department for International Trade (DIT). They represent companies right
across the Midlands that are dedicated to growing their exports and which have made a commitment to helping other companies do the same – increasing prosperity and growing GDP by seizing the opportunities offered by trading in a global market. Export Champions represent a
wide range of sectors and all will work with the DIT to complement its services, giving their time to motivate and assist other businesses on their export journeys.
