WE were pleased to welcome the Revd Jane Held to speak to us at our March meeting which was during the season of Lent. Jane led our service and then told us of some of the many ways in which Lent is interpreted and celebrated by various faiths throughout the world, even in the Anglican Church in our own country there are many different customs and traditions! I think that we all agreed with her that just giving up chocolate and sweets is not really how God is asking us to use the time in Lent, doing that is just a good advert for Weight Watchers! Perhaps to use the time in a more positive way of study prayer and caring where needed.
Several of us are joining with
Halesworth and Southwold branches to travel to the Cathedral at Bury St Edmunds for the Lady Day Service on March 25th. The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. This is always a beautiful service at which the officers are commissioned for the
next
Triennial and it is always good to feel part of such a large organisation.
Our next meeting on Wednesday 10th
April will
be a discussion when we will split into groups and discuss topical issues – I hasten to say not Brexit, we are far too intelligent! Anybody who would like to join us and put their point of view would be very welcome. (2.30pm in the Church Room.)

THIS term we are looking at ‘Down in the Woods’. During this week we have been looking at ‘The Gruffalo’
story, and
have taken part in a “Sponsored Gruffalo Walk”. The children had to hunt for pictures on the school field all relating to the story, and once they’d finished they celebrated with a special snack of “Scrambled Snake and Owl ice-cream”. As you can see from the photo they have been having fun with some dressing up too. To continue our theme we are hoping later this term to take the children to Dunwich woods. This week we have also celebrated World Book Day, the children dressed up as their favourite story book character and they shared some of their favourite
stories with each
other – they looked fantastic and really enjoyed themselves. Ilketshall
also known as ‘Owlets’ is a registered
charity some
Pre-School and
have
been established since 2002, and was Ofsted rated in 2018 as 'Good'. After
fundraising and generous donations we have secured funding for a new modular building (currently we share facilities with Ilketshall St Lawrence reception
class).
The new building will be in the grounds of the primary school, although run independently, and our fundraising efforts now will go towards resources that are needed for the building. We currently offer every weekday afternoon
from
12.15pm – 3.15pm, the new build will enable us to extend our hours, which we are hoping to have up and running for September. We welcome children from the age of 2 until they start reception. The children learn through play and are always encouraged to show their individualities
