Beginners Harmonica Workshop - Learn to play in a day!


Bramfield Stepping Stones Pre-School


HARMONICA player


and teacher Paul Gillings will guide you through the rudiments of playing the humble mouth organ. In one day Paul will take you from being a complete novice to being able to play tunes, scales and chords. You will need a 10 hole diatonic harmonica in the key of C (Harmonicas will be available to purchase on the day). The workshop will take you through all you need to know from how to hold the harmonica, to breathing, basic chords, tone, airflow and then onto a introduction to the blues, scales and improvisation. At all stages the emphasis is on actually playing the harmonica and every technique an


accompanying tune


has and


backing track to demonstrate the tuition.


Paul Gillings is a former


World Harmonica Champion in the Blues/Rock and Jazz/ Melodic categories and has been playing music since 1988. Paul age


toured with from the a young all-harmonica band ‘Random Sound’ with


whom he appeared on over 40 TV shows in 52 countries including 'The Mickey Mouse Club TV Show' in the USA and 'Jools Holland's Happening' and Glastonbury Festival. More recently Paul performs and records his own brand of harmonica driven Indie/Folk and plays live with a number of bands as well as teaching and playing at

THE Children at Bramfield Stepping Stones enjoyed a very busy March, with lots of special days and celebrations. On ‘World Book Day’ we all dressed as our favourite story characters and enjoyed activities based on well-loved stories. A huge Thank you to Abby at Halesworth Book shop who kindly supplied the books for this ever- popular event. The children also took part in ‘Red Nose Day’ celebrations in aid of Comic Relief and baked cakes to raise money for this worthwhile cause. Towards the end of term, a group of senior children from Bramfield Primary presented an interactive session on road safety as part of the ‘Beep, Beep’ road safety scheme. With the


help of Zookie


and Zac (the zebra’s) the preschool children learnt how to cross the road safely. Bramfield Stepping Stones offers care and early years’


education to children aged 2 to 5 years. We are open five days a week 9.15am- 3.15pm with Breakfast club and Out of School Club facilities available from 7.45am to 6pm. In our last Ofsted inspection, we were awarded ‘Good’ in all areas. We welcome children at all stages of development, including those in nappies, and from the Halesworth area and beyond. All children are entitled to 15 hours per week of government funding in the term following their third birthday. 30-hour funding and two-year-old funding is also available for families meeting certain financial criteria.
