Editor’s Letter
Welcome I
of this historic and beautiful treasure house.
Tere are many, many things to look forward to in the coming months. So why not make a date for the Grand Medieval Joust on May 25, 26 and 27 or save July 27 and 28 in your diary for the spectacular 900 Carnival of History.
Tere is a great deal more besides, much of which will be reflected in
the pages of Mid Kent Living or our sister publication, the Downs Mail newspaper, and its website in 2019. In this season’s magazine, writer Dawn Kingsford got to meet Mathew Scot, Kent’s Police and Crime Commissioner, who liſts the lid on a busy life at home and at police headquarters. Te gardening experts at Te Poted Garden share some insights into how to make the best of pots and planters this spring time. We also celebrate a double gong for a pair of restaurateurs who put “local” into everything they do.
n the past few months, I have been borrowing our neighbours’ pet springer spaniel at the weekend to have some company on otherwise solo walks. If I walk eight miles, Humphrey runs about 800. He’ll take a ten minute dip in the River Len,
near Broomfield, aſter chasing around aſter a tennis ball in the local cricket ground. As we go through Leeds Castle’s parkland, one senses the place is cranking up for a wonderful year of celebrations to mark the 900th birthday
Plus we meet the inspirational funeral director who firmly believes that people should not want to live forever – but enjoy the life they’ve got. Plus there is much, much more as always. All the best,
Simon Finlay, Editor Simon
